A very strong start by the girls today, with outstanding play by Shylaa, Ruby and Sophia. Lorna settled into WD really well with supportive play down court. Gabby constantly worked hard to gain back possession, with Brooklyn making herself available and always backing up her team. Emily played the perfect GS, ensuring she was in the right place to help set up a shot. Great goals by both Ruby and Emily! Ava came on in the second half with safe passing and great support. Shylaa's insight and effort were very impressive, and the amazing defensive skill shown by Sophia secured her award as Player of the Day. A deserving win girls!

A great game by a team of mostly new to netball girls! 3 of them playing in their first ever game! We had a lot of the ball at our end of the court and so the shooters got in lots of practice on the new 3m high goals. We definitely had a height advantage (yay!) and used that to great effect at both ends! It was a great confidence booster and wonderful to see smiles on their faces despite the atrocious weather! Well done girls! Wendy
Great first game and result for our girls. Well done!
Another good win for our boys against opposition which seem to be getting stronger.Jaimie gets player of the day for really getting involved, defensive hassling and when he gets the ball, making good passing decisions. We missed Tony's intercepting skills. A few too many fouls by us and a bit of wild shooting creeping in. Max nice and calm with the ball. All in all a good game by us. Go Giants!
The first win for the Candystix! In conditions that got steadily worse with very heavy rain faling at the end. Great game from all the girls and clear improvements are being shown from week to week. Well done Linda, you must be getting through to them! Good work from Sophie to save the couple of clear chances that Mairangi had on our goal, the linking in the mid field was good with Poppy, Hannah, Emily and Sarah all working well. Danielle had a good day at centre forward scoring 4 goals thanks to the work put in by the team to get the ball forward, Emily scoring the other goal. Darcy was very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet as well.
Off to a scary start when our opposition scored quickly off the mark! Took us by surprise I think. Once underway again , the girls got into rhythm and fought back faster and furiously notching up our own quick 3 goals or so. The competition really was a bit stronger this week and tested us at times. Well done to the forwards for getting the ball up the field with plenty of other near goals. Also to the defence for their strong teamwork backing each other up as practiced at training! Great reading of the game by Grace Buxton earned her player of the day for some clever interceptions! A special mention also for Lauren Smyth who did some great passing and very strong defending as usual!
The Marlins played really well as a team tonight. Thier coach was very proud of them they stayed in position passing the ball up the pool into space and defending well at the back.
What an exciting game today, and the first win of the season for the Shooting Stars! The girls got off to a bit of a tentative start, having not had the benefit of a practise in their game positions due to bad weather on Tuesday. However, the ball was ‘whipped up’ on numerous occasions by our amazing GK, Ruby, and sent down court again. Brooklyn got herself in some great spaces to help launch the ball into the centre third, where Ava, Emily and Sophia were quick to assist bringing the ball down towards the our shooting circle. The opposition had a few attempts at shooting for goal in the first half, which were unsuccessful. Shylaa kicked off the second half with lots of energy and a renewed understanding of her Centre role. With great play by Shylaa and Sophia, the ball came down the court, giving Gabby her first opportunity to have a go at shooting. Although the first attempt was unsuccessful, she was very shortly rewarded for her hard practise sessions all week. The Shooting Stars were one goal up, and there was major excitement on the sideline – not to mention lots of cheering by the ‘blue and greens’ on court! Lorna had a very strong presence in the second half, working so well with ‘interceptor Ruby’ to bring the ball down the court, where Ava and Gabby combined beautifully to position themselves for another goal attempt. Another great goal followed for Gabby! Well done Shooting Stars, you were definitely little stars today!
A much tougher game for game 2! Lots of heads and faces were hit with the ball and it even started to spit at one point! The team did another wonderful job of keeping their feet still and I am super proud of the girls for having their beautiful smiles back by the end of the game! Anna was the most improved player for the day and as such she won the POD trophy! Well done to all the Pebbles! Remember to have FUN on the court!
A stunning effort from the girls, completely outplaying Murrays Bay across the court and scoring at nearly a goal a minute. Sophie made a geat effort to make practice on Friday even though she was unwell, she didn't attend school but fronted up on Saturday and played outstandingly. Her shooting was excellent making 17 goals, Danielle scored the other 9 goals and combining well to ensure the person in the best position took the shot. Another really strong game from Emily at WA who pounced on any loose ball and fed the shooting circle well. She was well supported by Lauren for her great mid court skillsThe defensive end had a relatively quiet game with Grace and Imogen keeping Murrays Bay scoreless and Tilly (WD) in particular pulling off a number of intercepts.
Our defense worked super hard in this game! Jaimie as GK was our player of the day, keeping her eyes on the play and moving to intercept the ball where ever possible. Nadia as GD was right there with her, moving to spaces to free herself for Jaimie's passes. Super partnership in defense! Great still feet with the ball from the whole team, and some super passing to each other.
First win for the QT's - go girls, what a great effort by all of you!!! Winning goal scored by Ellie Phillips Most improved player Nieve Harrison
Absolutely fantastic game from the girls. Played so well as a team. Big passes that we looked down the court for. 6/0 at half time and we set a goal for 10/0 by full time. Juliette did the best 3 ft mark and some great attacjing passes. Well done girls.
An excellent performance from the whole team, which had come back from their first loss the previous week. At practice we had spoken about improving passing, staying calm, and not taking wild shots and it was fantastic to see how the boys improved in all those areas. Tony for his intercepting skills and Arran for intelligent passing options get Player of the Day. Kieran and Max excellent passing and shooting at the right time, James great defending as usual and becoming very confident working the ball up.Jaimie and Solomon good supporting and passing. Go Giants
Coaches Award: Lucy Sherlock - for passing to space! Sportsmanship Award: Amelia Pollard-Brown - for working hard the whole game, never giving up and always thinking 'what next'!
Coaches Award - Brianna Smith - for keeping her stick down! Well done girls. For so many of you it is your first season of Hockey and you are all working so hard to pick up the skills and techniques needed to be great Hockey players.
What a game! A very tight and tense match throughout with Emily scoring a goal to tie the game right on the final whistle. We spent a lot of time at the attacking end but couldn't manage to score through the tight Torbay defence until the very end. A real step up in performance from all the team with good ball control skills being shown. Well done, we look forward to seeing the continuous improvement from all the girls.
A tough game against an experienced team but the tornado's played very well considering it's only their second game in A grade, having moved up from the begginners grade at the start of this term.
Another win for this talented team of stars!! This week the girls beat a team who last week won 11 nil! The 2nd half was a bit nail biting as Browns Bay started clawing back a few goals -but we were too far ahead thankfully! Well done to all of you and particularly to Imogen who is a consistently strong player, always in there attacking that goal! Well done! Also special mention to Tilly Freeman who scored 3 goals again this week! Awesome work, Give yourselves a pat on the back! From Wendy & Trudy
Second grading game!! Another great win . Goals scored by a number of girls. Sophie finished of a couple of lovely goals. Well done Sophie
What an awesome start to the season! 9 5 and 6 year olds not only made it to the courts on time, but they were in uniform, drink bottles at the ready and excited about taking on their first netball game of the season and in fact for many of them - their first game ever! Maddison scored our winning goal with a beautiful shot straight through the hoop! Charlotte won the POD by being AMAZING as our Centre and Caitlin turned 6 on the day! The whole team did a great job and NO ONE was called for stepping! Not even once! Well done girls! You made me proud and I can't wait for next week's game!
Greenhithe Angels played exceptionally well on Saturday. All the parents and myself are very proud of them. Our practices are paying off with the girls becoming more confident in their passing and learning the rules as we go. Tanusha was the only player out of both teams to score a goal in the second half and her tenacity paid off earning her player of the day. Look forward to next Saturday for another great game! Dawn Bethell Coach
A great result in our first grading game. The two new players to the team this year (Imogen and Sophie) have slotted in very well. Some excellent work through the mid court by Lauran, Danielle and Imogen meant good service to the shooting circle where wesaw some great interplay between Grace and Emily. The defensive end of Sophie and Tilly were not made to work too hard, but Tilly did pull off a number of good intercepts! Well done to all the girls.
A great start to our netball season with a solid win! Well done to all the team expecially since it was their first ever netball game. Well done to our player of the day, Frederieke who had an outstanding defensive game. Great shooting by Cushla Stanton and Izzy Olsen, who were well supported by Isla Senn and Gypsy Dil throughout the mid court. Good steady defending by Shayla Ashton and Choe Summerville and Nikita Rennie, who also made it hard for the opposition to score and keep the ball down their end of the court. Coaches and parents were all very proud of you. Well done.
Awesome effort from our girls in their first ever game, we were very proud of them all and they seemed to really enjoy themselves!!!! Go the QT's!!!
Great first game out. Quite a strong team we played, so we were happy with the score line. Amazing defence by Sarah Mott.
A great start to the year with a substantial win! Well done to all our team particularly our player of the day Tamsyn Bosch who started very confidently in her first ever game of hockey! Well done also to Holly Mcquillan in her 2nd game. Great work by our goal scorers Tilly Freeman, Grace Buxton, Imogen Stanton and Lauren Smyth! Not to mention good steady defending by midfielders Jade Laville Moore and Alyssa Bond.
What a great start to the season boys, especially since most of you have not played hockey before. Karl Wallace scored 3 of our goals with Trent Jones scoring the other. The team played really well together with some great passing and spreading out on the field. Keep up the good work boys.
An excellent effort in the first game of hockey for the all bar one of the squad. Particularly good on setting up our defensive wall. Great enthusiam shown by all.
Coaches Award: Paige Stevensen for always getting to the ball and working hard on both attack and defence!
First grading game against a team that was still learning hockey. Great goals scored well done girls

Sylvia was awarded to coaches award for working hard on her defence and taking her feet to the ball to make sure she maintained balance and made the most of an attempt at an intercept. Well done girls. Overall you all listened really well at half time and worked hard to put into play what we discussed, a great second half due to your concentration and focus!
Gemma Bell was awarded the Fair Play Award - Gemma worked hard the whole game and put into practice what we had been working on at training. I saw lots of tips of the ball and improved eye's up on the ball on defence, nice work! Combined Coaches award went to Jorgia Bult and Jeri Wilkinson for taking their feet to the ball which meant more and cleaner intercepts! Well done girls, great to watch. You all deserved the win tonight, the final hooter went just 1 minute too early!!!!
Fair Play went to Kayla Leslie for her determination in marking the kauri tree opponent. You were worried but you dominated and got lots of intercepts and forced them to make some error's - well done. Coaches award went to Jeri Wilkinson for dodging and driving without bunching. You created space and made yourself available within the confines of the goal circle really well.

Also special mention to Maren for working hard in the goal circle in the last half of the game, unfortunately your partner was allowed to pull you in with her arms. Well done for trying new things and never giving up! Coaches Award went to Charlotte for getting back on her player and working hard to interfer with the oppositions attack. You came up with loads of intercepts and got each one away well! Second half score was 2 - 3 to them so we held them close in the second half! Awesome!

Emilie was awarded coaches award for getting involved on defense and making it hard for the opposition to get free, lots of intercepts and winning loose balls, well done.
Fair Play was awarded to Mia Rua. Some great passing under the goal Mia, nice feeding in to our shooter. Jeri was awarded the coaches award for driving back on her player quickly and effectively to keep (him)/her out of the game and got up into the air on many occasions to some great intercepts. A shame the score didn't reflect the great defensive game you all had.
Fair Play - Paige Stevensen, awesome work Paige. Fast, effective and often in support! Coaches award for getting up into the air and keeping back on your partner went to Devon Thorpe, great work - you held them scoreless in the last quarter.
Well done also to Maddi for achieving the fair play award for giving it everything. Also well done to Charlotte for being awarded the coaches award for clearing out to create space..
Well done Devon Thorpe for being awarded the Fair Play Award - you made it easy for the team to keep moving down the court with your fast confident drives to space and then realising some great passes. Nice work Courtney Charles making yourself available for passes by clearing out and away from the bunch!!! This made it easy to award you with the coaches award for the game.
A fantastic game by our girls last night, bravely fought with our never give up attitude – awesome. Great to see our shooting technique practice paying off - some beautiful shots from perfect technique.
A fantastic game - Mairangi Bay were coming joint top with Red Beach so I thought it was going to be a really tough game for the boys. But as the score shows - Greenhithe were all over them - they did not stand a chance from start to finish. Well Done boys - I am really proud of you.
A very well played game by the boys - lots of passing and good positioning by all. Great way to end the term, well done!
Special mentions also to Kayla Leslie and Mia Rua who took home Fair Play and Coaches awards respectively. Kayla - a very nice defensive game, you picked up many intercepts down in the defensive circle even though you were marking a very tall shooter, well done on your persistance and perserverance. Mia - lovely to see you working so hard to put into practice what we learnt at training, well done on some very restrictive defensive marking.
Also special mentions to Fair Play recipient Jorgia Bult and Coaches Award recipient Gemma Bell. Well done girls!!!
Also special mentions to Courtney Charles who received the Fair Play award for giving 100% and also Silvia Leadley who received the Coaches Award for quick pivoting and gaining balance to pass down the court! Well done girls.
Great second half game, we were still asleep in the first half. The team is coming along really well for first year hockey players. Keep up the good work guys and hopefully you are all enjoying it as well.
A really close and hard-fought game by the Fireflies. Although they were down 2-1 in the first half, the girls picked up their game and came away with a victory! Great defending in the circle by Brianna, and excellent team work in our goal circle by Peyton and Emily P.
An awesome game where we worked well as a team to achieve a great win. Well done girls

Emilie Knight - Coaches award for driving forward and pivoting - Beautiful work in the goal circle Emilie, lots of great driving forward and what great shooting!
Great game I'n wet conditions . Both very even teams well done.
Big game for my girls. We were leading 2 nil and then had a momentary lapse in concentration. The lightning came back to lead 3/2. Less then a minute left. Mums and dads and coaches were so excited on the sideline, yelling encouragement to the girls. We got an intercept, shot for goal and got it in. Yahoo!! A draw and a very exciting game from the girls who played with a never say die attitude.
The girls were amazing. They looked for the spacing and drove the ball down court to our goal area. With the help of Zion (GA) providing fantastic ball feeding, Eden (GS) was able to net the ball with relative ease. At half time we were leading but the St John Dolphins pulled back as unfortunately we were not able to score any more goals. However the team managed the substitutions really well and remembered their areas of play on court. A well deserved draw for the whole team who gave 100% on the day.
Thank you again to Luke Buxton and Harry Amor for filling in for our team. You boys Rock !
A bad start... but the girls put their heads down and gave it everything they had to try climb back - Thats what its all about - Awesome !!!!!
A relatively easy first half for Tilly, our sweeper, and two great goals from Grace and another from Imogen. So at half time we decided to give Tilly a run around and Giselle was desperate to play as sweeper. My goodness, what an amazing display of goalkeeping by Giselle - our worthy player of the day!
Due to pinehurst having camp this game was not played and is Going to be played on another night.
Absolutely exceptional game by my girls. The score did not reflect the game as we had 14 atte, pts at goal and only got 1 in. Well done my Jewels!!!
Notable performances also by Charlotte McDonald who gave it everything with a smile the whole game and was awarded Fair Play award, well done Charlotte. And Jorgia Bult who played a great thinking game keeping her court positioning therefore creating some great space and flow, also coming up with a multitude of intercepts, well done Jorgia.
Notable performances also from Sarah Taylor and Paige Stevenson. Sarah gave her all the whole game and never gave up, driving forward very well, well done Sarah. Paige, having taken a heavy fall in the first quarter, got back on during the quarter break and played a lovely game. The opposition were huge and intimidating however our - what looked like very small girls - gave their all and played some good netball.
The girls managed to hold of the opposition really well at the beginning of the game, but they proved to be too strong and the score started to creep up. Really good team work and court play by the Fireflies. Jessica had an excellent game at WD, and Emily proved to be a relentless defender at GD.
Coaches choice went to Keeley Roberston and Caitlin Stone. Great game in cold wet conditions. We worked well as a team to keep Kingsway out from our goal and we were by far the dominant team. Great result girls
